Laugh It Out

Wonder why we laugh when we are nervous? Because laughing creates endorphins which lower your stress response. Our bodies cannot tell the difference between contagious laughter and fake laughter.

The power of the exhale: The philosophy of yogic breathing, or pranayama, is all emphasizing the exhale. So then we can get rid of residual air from the lungs and therefore more oxygen for our next inhale. Laughing is exhaling. The forced exhalation from laughter exercises bring more oxygen to our bodies and brains. Additionally, more oxygen to our brains helps achieve peak performance.

Heart Health: Research indicates that Laughter dilates the blood vessels and improves the pumping of the heart. Like an ‘internal jog’ for our circulatory system. Which in turn promotes the circulation of the digestive and lymphatic system

Feel good chemicals: Endorphins act as natural painkillers and mood elevators. Dopamine, the reward chemical, enhances feelings of pleasure and motivation. Serotonin contributes to overall mood regulation and a sense of happiness. Oxytocin, often referred to as the "love hormone," fosters feelings of connection and trust.

The answer was under our nose the entire time! Embrace the gift of laughter and experience the transformative power it holds, bringing more joy, health, and connection into your life.
